The Almor Group is headed up by owner and managing director Chris Allum. We’re proud to say that the average employment tenure is in excess of 10 years and we are committed to supporting and developing all our employees across all levels of the organisation.
Board
Chris Allum founded Almor Ltd in 1992 when he acquired Welding and Brazing in Cannock, West Midlands. Since he has gone on to build the Almor success and acquire various companies such as F.Atkinson, Nottingham in 1998 and Mormet Fabrications in the Tipton, West Midlands, both of which operate from their original base.
The most recent acquisition being Wellman Furnaces based in Oldbury, West Midlands is now thriving under the Almor Wellman banner.
Chris plays an active role as Director of Sales and heads up the company.
Martin has a long history of running busineses in Furnace Engineering. He now sits on the Board with Chris Allum.
Directors
Pat Clarke (Bsc. ACMA) has been with the Almor Group since it acquired F.Atkinson in 1998.
Heading up the Group as Finance Director and Almor’s Company Secretary Pat plays a lead role in the function of the company across all three sites.
Richard is our most recent employee brought in at Director level. He is responsible for Nottingham fabrications production, IT, ISO9001:2015.
He is also the company lead on Health and Safety, with fellow directors, Noel Wilson (Almor Wild Barfield), Trevor Walton (Almor Wellman) and Pat Clarke (Company Secretary and Finance Director).
Trevor heads up the Almor Wellman (Wellman Furnaces) arm of the business and is based in Tipton, West Midlands.
He has worked in the thermal processing market for the last 29 years and has a wealth of knowledge and engineering experience from inception to build of large capital equipment projects, as well as the design of gas fired combustion equipment and systems.
Based on this experience Trevor is able to work closely with our customers (often large Blue Chip companies) to develop innovative thermal processing equipment and solutions to fulfill our customer expectations.
Noel Wilson (FIMechE) CEng joined the Almor Group in 2013 as Engineering Director and is responsible for all Engineering functions. Noel’s knowledge and experience in thermal engineering is extensive ranging from -150oC to +2500oC having spent nearly 18 years as chief engineer at Carbolite. Noel now heads up the Almor Wild Barfield brand function which supports the well established engineering and site teams. Noel will increase the range of products that the company can offer.
Managers
Lyndon has been working at the Almor Group for over 3 years. He is responsible for sales, engineering and project management of refractory equipment and major site service projects. He also works closely with the site service team to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget. He is a qualified Refractory bricklayer and Ceramic fibre installer has been involved in the refractory industry for over 45 years.
Colin Bloor (BEng, DegIosh) has been working at the Almor Group for over 10 years. He is responsible for engineering compliance, project management of equipment and major site service projects. He also manages the site service engineering team to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget. He is a qualified Electrical & Mechanical Engineer with an extensive field service experience gained over 30 years. He also has a wealth of Health & Safety background in all aspects of site engineering activities. Colin’s involvement in the furnace industry stretches over 20 years working on and designing Vacuum and Atmosphere furnace and process equipment.
Nigel heads up the sales team across the whole of the Almor Group.
Nigel has been working for Almor and previously Wellman for 7 years. He started his career as an apprentice furnace builder and has spent his whole working life in the industrial process heating industry.
Arthur has been with the Almor Group since its inception and came from a strong engineering background at Wild Barfield and Marathon Process Controls which Almor acquired in 1998.
Arthur now works part time but has a key role as Engineering manager in the established Almor Wild Barfield brand.
Vanessa (Tech IOSH) has worked in Health, Safety & Welfare for over 25 years; predominately in the Manufacturing Industry. Vanessa (known better as ‘Ness’) has been a member of our team since 2015 starting originally as our HS&W Advisor.
As our business adopts a more pro-active approach to the safety & well-being of our employees, it further supports Almor’s Corporate and Social Responsibility of becoming an Employer of Choice.
Ashley has worked for Almor for the past 8 years and looks after the company Marketing.
Tony James worked for F.Atkinson in Nottingham which was originally established in 1937 and was then acquired by the Almor Group in 1998. Tony heads up the estimating team and alloy fabrication arm at Nottingham. He has developed a team which is renowned as a world leading manufacturer of flare gas systems.
Adam started an Apprenticeship in 2000-2005 at Vecstar Furnaces and completed Level 1,2 & 3 (Distinction) NVQ Level 3 in Farication and Welding, Adam joined Almor in 2015 and is now the Sales Manager heading up a team of 4.
Gary has been working at the Almor Group for 15 years. During this time he has filled various roles mainly focussed around quality management and product conformity. Currently Gary is responsible for managing fabrications for the oil & gas and petrochemical sectors. Gary is also Almor’s BS EN ISO 9001 management representative.
In his spare time Gary enjoys playing golf, keeping fit and reading weighty tomes.
Mark has been working at the Almor Group since 2011. He is responsible for the management of production at Almor’s Nottingham site to meet customer needs by optimising use of labour and facilities.
He also works closely with other departments, in particularly commercial, contracts, and sales to ensure contracts are delivered on time and budget.
